This article is about a series of church burnings in certain areas of the country. These churches weren’t just any churches they were African American churches. Investigators found links among fires set in some locations, but nothing to connect all of the fires that were under investigation. Investigators faced a difficult task, given that most of the burned churches were in rural areas. There weren’t many witnesses and the churches weren’t discovered until they burned to the ground. Hundreds of Federal and local investigators were working on the cases and solved a few. Some black churches were burned in Louisiana, Kentucky, Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi, but the greatest number have been torched in Tennessee and South Carolina. This was obviously a racists act. During the time people still wanted segregation some people still do today. People before the 2000’s didn’t like African Americans so they burned the churches they met in.
The song I chose form the year 1996 is Always be my baby by Mariah Carey. I like the way it sounds and it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I used to love this song as a little girl and I still love it now.
